============================================================================== Simba Couchbase ODBC Data Connector Release Notes ============================================================================== The release notes provide details of enhancements, features, known issues, and workflow changes in Simba Couchbase ODBC Connector 2.4.0, as well as the version history. This version of the connector supports the following data source versions and platforms: * Couchbase 7.2, Capella, 7.6 * Windows 11; Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 * macOS 13, 14, 15 (Universal Binary – Intel and ARM support), macOS 26(ARM support) * RHEL 8, 9, 10; SLES 15 or 16; Debian 11, 12, 13; Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 or 26.04 2.4.0 ======================================================================== Released 2026-10-09 Enhancements & New Features * Updated platform support and third-party libraries The connector now supports the following platform versions: - SLES 16 - Ubuntu 26.04 The connector now uses the following third-party libraries: - OpenSSL 3.5.8 (previously 3.5.6) - libcURL 8.22.0 (previously 8.20.0) * Upgraded Schema Editor The connector has been updated to use Schema Editor 4.6.7. Known Issues The following are known issues that you may encounter due to limitations in the data source, the connector, or an application. * Connector cannot write timestamp data with time zone information. The connector can read timestamp data that includes time zone information, but cannot write that data. * Schema definitions that were created using Simba Couchbase ODBC Connector 1.1.2 or earlier are not supported. You must recreate the schema definition using either a later version of the connector, or version 3.0 or later of the Schema Editor application. For information about using connector configuration options to work with schema definitions, see the Installation and Configuration Guide. For information about using the Schema Editor, see the Schema Editor User Guide. If you connect to a Couchbase data store without specifying a schema definition, but the data store contains an unsupported schema definition, the connector will attempt to load it and then return an error. * Connector cannot execute UNION queries written in N1QL. When executing queries in N1QL, the connector does not support UNION queries. * Couchbase Server error occurs if the bucket does not have a primary index. If a query is made on a bucket that does not have a primary index, then Couchbase Server returns an error. As a workaround, make sure that all buckets have a primary index. * Documents that are themselves an array are not supported. The connector cannot read a Couchbase document that is an array. The document must be a JSON object containing data (such as arrays). * In specific cases, the SQL SUBSTRING scalar function does not work as expected when translated to N1QL. The SQL SUBSTRING scalar function, when translated to N1QL, will return NULL instead of an empty string if the requested start position or character count reaches beyond the end of the input string. * The SQL CONVERT function is not supported. The connector does not support the SQL CONVERT function. If you try to execute a query containing this function, an error will occur. * SQL LOCATE functions containing three arguments are not supported. The connector does not support SQL LOCATE functions that contain three arguments. If you try to execute a query containing a SQL LOCATE function with three arguments, an error will occur. * The connector returns a syntax error if your query contains a FROM TABLE clause but does not specify a column, or contains function calls. If your query contains a FROM TABLE clause, you must specify a column. * IFNULL on number and string returns null instead of value. When you execute an IFNULL function in which the first argument is a number and the second argument is a string, IFNULL returns a null instead of the correct argument. * In N1QL, if two rows have different schemas, columns that are not in the first row are not displayed. * Couchbase Server requires at least three nodes in a cluster for failover to take effect. This is a limitation in Couchbase Server. Workflow Changes ============================================================= The following changes may disrupt established workflows for the connector. 2.3.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * [COUCHO-716] Removed support Couchbase versions 7.1 and earlier Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports Couchbase data source versions 7.1 and earlier. 2.3.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * [COUCHO-699] Removed support for earlier platform versions Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports the following platform versions: - Windows 7, 8.1, 10 - Windows Server 2008, 2012 - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 12 - Debian 10 - Ubuntu 20.04 - macOS 10.13, 10.14, 11, 12 2.2.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * [COUCHO-613] Updated DllA directories location Beginning with this release, the LibCurl64.DllA and LibCurl32.DllA directories for 64 bit and 32 bit packages have been removed and libcurl.dll, LibCurl32.DllA.manifest, and LibCurl64.DllA.manifest files are now located under the lib folder. * [COUCHO-641] Removed Visual Studio 2013 support Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports Visual Studio 2013. 2.1.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * [COUCHO-617] Removed support Couchbase versions 6.0 and earlier Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports Couchbase version 6.0 and earlier. * Updated the precision of double and float type values For precision change, the connector now uses the following: - double values use 17 significant digits (previously 15 significant digits) - float values use 9 significant digits (previously 7 significant digits) 2.0.5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ * Minimum TLS Version Beginning with this release, the driver requires a minimum version of TLS for encrypting the data store connection. By default, the driver requires TLS version 1.2. This requirement may cause existing DSNs and connection strings to stop working, if they are used to connect to data stores that use a TLS version earlier than 1.2. To resolve this, in your DSN or connection string, set the Minimum TLS option (the Min_TLS property) to the appropriate version of TLS for your server. For more information, see the Installation and Configuration Guide.
